Created in collaboration with the fashion house to mark the 70th anniversary of Chloé in 2022, this is the very first complete survey of Chloé collections showcased through runway photography. Established in 1952 by Egyptian-born Gaby Aghion, Chloé pioneered luxury ready-to-wear with an emphasis on ease and femininity, presenting an elegant "haute bohemian" aesthetic tailored to the modern, liberated Parisian woman. Driven by a forward-looking perspective, the house recognized and recruited a young Karl Lagerfeld as early as the 1960s; he achieved global renown through his work with Chloé before departing, after which Stella McCartney, fresh out of fashion school, took over alongside her then-assistant Phoebe Philo. This extensive volume begins with a concise history of the Chloé fashion house before moving through the collections arranged in chronological sequence. Each new era in the history of Chloé opens with a brief biographical overview of the incoming designer, while individual collections are introduced with short texts detailing their creative influences and notable elements, accompanied by carefully curated catwalk imagery.
